I hope you’ve all had time to take a peek at our new and improved website, AuburnNashville.com. Make sure you check it out it to stay up-to-date on our activities and other club news.

Last month, club leadership met and brainstormed plans for the upcoming year. We reviewed the results of the recent survey and made sure that your priorities are our priorities. We have exciting plans underway for more events and activities for all ages and interests. Our focus remains on creating opportunities to engage with one another and build community.

How does one become a club leader? You volunteer! We are always looking for passionate Auburn alumni who want to see big things from our club. That means pitching in at events, attending board meetings, and working with a group to coordinate the initiatives that we’re continuing to roll out. From supper clubs to service projects to search engine optimization, there is something for everyone to tackle. If you think you’d be a good fit for club leadership or are just interested in volunteering as your time permits, reach out today and get started! With fall just around the corner, we need as much help as possible: we have more events lined up plus a huge fundraising announcement that you will not want to miss out on.

Be sure to reach out if you have any comments or questions - I am at your service!

Freshman Send-off

Date: Wednesday, July 24

Time: 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Location: John P. Holt Brentwood Library.
The class of 2023 is heading off to Auburn soon, and we have gotten a fantastic response to our Freshman Send-Off dinner on July 24. But don’t let the name fool you: this event is NOT just for freshmen! Alumni are encouraged to attend as well - in fact, we need you there! We are still looking for about 15 more volunteers in order to efficiently host our freshmen and guests. We’ve made it simple this year by taking care of dinner. All you need to do is RSVP and prepay $7 for your meal, and please sign up to work a volunteer shift if you are able. You can click here to RSVP; then be sure to click here to sign up to work a volunteer shift.
NEW MERCH

Speaking of Freshman Send-Off, everyone in attendance can take home our new club t-shirt! Our Nashville shirt displays Auburn pride while also paying homage to our awesome city. Pre-order yours now at AuburnNashville.com/shop and be among the very first to get one at the Send-Off. The best part: a percentage of all sales will go back toward our club scholarship endowment.

War Eagle Supper Club

We had a blast at our first War Eagle Supper Club in June! A wide range of alumni were in attendance, some that have lived in Nashville for years to those who only moved here ten weeks ago. We appreciate Hathorne generously donating gift cards to be raffled off for scholarship funds at an upcoming event.

This month, we are heading south to Amerigo in Cool Springs. Come join your Auburn Famiglia at 6:30 on Monday, July 15 for dinner. Click here to RSVP. Remember that capacity is limited because this is a group reservation at a restaurant and by RSVPing, you are agreeing to make every effort to attend. If your plans change, please be sure to alert us as soon as possible so we and the restaurant can plan accordingly. Stay tuned to social media for the date and location for August’s event.

Auburn Tigers Night with the Nashville Sounds

We also had fun at our College World Series game watching party! Nothing beats rooting on the Tigers with fellow alumni. And after such a great season for Auburn Baseball, we can’t wait for our night at the ballpark coming up on Friday, August 16.

We have reserved a block of seats together and if you haven’t already purchased your tickets, be sure to do so soon! This is a great activity for families or to come solo and meet new people - either way, we want to see you there!

 Scholarship Update:

The Greater Nashville Auburn Club was able to award two scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. One of the recipients, Madison Hammett from Franklin, recently provided an update on her freshman year:

“Receiving the GNAC scholarship meant I was able to focus on my academic goals with less financial pressure. It meant I was able to go to my dream school and excel academically and socially. I was able to put my full focus into Auburn and all it had to offer for me.

My freshman year went extremely well. I pledged a sorority, and became assistant vice president as well as a member of the recruitment committee. I became a staff member of Auburn University Dance Marathon which benefits Children’s Miracle Network.

I am studying public relations, and I was able to maintain a 4.0 while creating memories and friends.

My favorite memory this year was definitely during basketball season. All of Auburn’s campus came together to support the team and cheer them on in the national tournament. We rolled Toomer’s like crazy! I am so excited for my next 3 years!”

Did you know by supporting the club at events, you are helping grow our endowment? For instance, the venue for our annual meeting donated a percentage of food and beverage sales toward our scholarship fund, totaling more $100.

Congratulations to Nashville native and recent Auburn graduate Julia Dickenson on being selected as a Fulbright Scholar! Julia graduated from Brentwood High School in 2015 and is one of five Auburn alums to receive this prestigious scholarship for the upcoming year.
